BIOGRAPHY

In the past 23 years Sheri has made her mark in the art world on a number of levels. While she has worked in several mediums and is most recognized for her work in pastel, in recent years she has also explored new avenues with encaustic and mixed media. Sheri’s work has been exhibited in many galleries and is in private collections throughout Canada, the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Shanghai and Europe. She has had many commissions throughout her career along with a large scale corporate, public-space commission for PowerStream Head Office, West Atrium project, working on a team with two established glass artists. Her commercial assignments also include illustration work, including a portrait series of high profile global leaders in business and politics  for an investment magazine. Sheri has contributed to public art initiatives at the municipal level, such as serving as juror on a public art selection committee for the Town of Halton Hills. In 2014 she became involved in the development of concepts for visual art and design for the Park 302 Project, under the direction of Baker Turner Inc., for the City of Mississauga.

Sheri has been an active member of the arts community, working with several arts associations, including positions on the executives of the Williams Mill Artists’ Association, Re:Vision Professional Artists Association and the Credit Valley Artisans, as well as contributing as a juror for the past 2 years for the Humber College Student Art show, which is part of the U.S.-based League for Innovation. She has extensive experience in teaching art to all levels of artists for over 23 years. (Her students have won over 90 arts awards to date). Besides her experience teaching and providing demonstrations in many schools and community centres, for all age groups and skill levels, she provides portfolio building classes through her own school to secondary students preparing to qualify for admission into arts programs at Universities and Colleges, with an excellent rate of successful admission. She has also organized many student and professional art shows.

Sheri’s management experience includes employment as a gallery manager and framing expert in a Toronto gallery, and as coordinator/manager for education at the Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre in Glen Williams.
