PORTFOLIO BUILDING FOR COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS
If you want to study fine art, applied art, architecture or any design discipline at a university or college, building a strong art portfolio is essential. It demonstrates your creative abilities and forms a critical part of your application. It shows who you are and what you’re capable of by presenting a comprehensive body of work.
In order to make your final portfolio presentation to a university or college stand out from the rest, our Art Portfolio Building classes will take you through and beyond the fundamentals to help you develop your critical thinking and conceptual development abilities, along with the technical skills in drawing, painting and mixed media, needed to make those concepts come alive. But it doesn’t stop there. Sheri all but ensures your successful application by helping you walk through the admissions process, assisting in adhering to the guidelines and requirements of each school to which you submit an application.

The School has helped students with developing portfolios for post-secondary programs in Fine Art, Industrial Design, Architecture, Environmental Design, Illustration, Fashion, Graphic Design and more, programs offered by Ryerson, OCADU, Carleton, Waterloo, Humber, and Sheridan to name a few. And many of our students have received scholarships upon admissions to universities and colleges. But preparing an portfolio can be time-consuming, and even stressful. As such we advise students to give themselves enough time to develop skills and create the best possible portfolio. Grade 11 is an excellent time to begin.

Sheri has been a great art teacher and the biggest help with getting ready to apply to college. She has helped me put together a portfolio I’m really proud of.
You have played a huge part in Allana’s growth as an artist over the last 3 years. She received an early offer to OCAD University, based on her portfolio.
I look forward to each lesson as Sheri helps me build a portfolio for school. Based on the artwork I created in her classes I received an early offer of admission to OCAD U, my first choice school.
